About Differential Audio
Differential Audio was born out of a love of sound, in particular live sound. But in fact is not actually Differential’s main line of work. It’s more of the hobby we love!
As such we are not under pressure to deliver all sorts of solutions for different, widely divergent cases. We concentrate on one finely tuned solution. First and foremost is sound quality. This doesn’t happen by accident or just buying a load of top quality equipment. Much of our equipment is built. Much of it is lovingly resorted vintage analogue, like our beloved DDA mixing desks.
It’s as much about how you deploy equipment, as what equipment is used. Wave propagation is not widely understood by many sound guys. But if you understand wave propagation in geometric optics and apply that to sound, you will understand why we don’t do line arrays. Multi-path distortion results in confusion in the sound. Unintelligible vocals.
Point source, one path from speaker to ear. No multi-path distortion. Word perfect vocals.
DDA CS3 mixing desk before restoration
This desk has 8 stereo channels. Incredibly rare!
Spent it’s life in a school and is incredibly clean for its age. It’s 30!
And after, plus customisation
Now sporting 20 mono channels, 4 stereos, broken fader replaced and all 100 or so 1/4″ jack sockets have been replaced with brand new quality Neutrik components. 100% tested.
Metering faults repaired and talkback button changed for latching type (just for Tyler). Fader and knob colours customised for our use.
Now truly beautiful with legendary DDA audio quality!
